Description
Revive & Thrive is excited to have certified Healing Touch Practitioner and Reiki Master/Teacher Kathleen Kennedy as one of our core valued practitioners! Healing Touch Therapy sessions are a relaxing, nurturing, heart-centered energy therapy that uses gentle, intentional touch to assist in balancing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Therapeutic Touch operates on the principle of restoring balance to life energy flow. Practitioners use their hands to sense and transmit healthy energy, eliciting warmth, relaxation, and pain relief. Energy assessment involves detecting qualities like temperature, activity level, and blockages.
Healing Touch practitioners are often difficult to find, as certification requires extensive training and dedication. Kathleen has successfully completed all five levels of coursework, a supervised mentorship with a qualified practitioner, documented practice hours with clients, and a rigorous certification exam—demonstrating her proficiency in Healing Touch techniques and ethical practice standards. To maintain her certification, she also completes ongoing continuing education, ensuring she remains at the forefront of this transformative healing modality.
Healing Touch Therapy Sessions assists in creating a coherent and balanced energy field, supporting one’s inherent ability to heal. It is safe for all ages and works in harmony with, is complementary to, and may be integrated with standard medical care. Healing Touch is beneficial in calming anxiety and reducing symptoms of depression, decreasing pain, strengthening the immune system, enhancing recovery from surgery, complementing care for neck and spine problems, deepening spiritual connection, supporting cancer care, creating a sense of well-being, easing acute and chronic conditions, and supporting resiliency in health care providers.
The History of Healing Touch Therapy: Therapeutic Touch was developed in the early 1970s by Dolores Krieger, a professor at New York University’s School of Nursing, and Dora Kunz, a natural healer. Initially, Krieger and Kunz introduced the technique exclusively to Krieger’s graduate nursing students. However, as Krieger’s research and publications highlighted its benefits, interest in the practice grew—particularly within the nursing community. This led to a grassroots movement, with nurses across the United States embracing and sharing the technique. Over time, Therapeutic Touch gained broader recognition and is now taught in hospitals and healthcare centers worldwide.
Today, it remains most commonly practiced by certified nurses, as well as by exceptional self-care wellness centers and skilled healers, continuing to serve as a valuable complementary therapy that promotes balance and well-being.
Scientist have acknowledged that healing touch therapy definitely works, but admittedly, they don’t know exactly how. They have theorized pain from emotional or physical distress is stored in the bodies cells. Examples of this can be infections, injuries, or personal relationship issues. The distress is a known factor leading to various ailments and disease. They believe healing touch therapy promotes health and well being by restoring communications between the cells.
